Four things you need to run GREAT events

As a business that specialises in helping event organisers around the globe run successful events (and by success, we’re referring to higher visitor engagement and improved ROI), we’re quite familiar with the ingredients required to make great events… well, great.

However, people often ask us ‘What are the most important aspects when it comes to events and technology?’. So, in a bid to answer the question and share our top tips, here are five that have been handpicked by the Fusion team.

1.  A soft touch

At any large-scale event, countless things happen at once – most of which will be of no interest to a portion of your visitors, but some of which will be the very reason they’re there! How do you ensure that they’re suitably updated and have access to relevant information throughout their event journey?

Touchscreens, that’s how. Not only do touchscreens provide immediate access to the information that your visitors need, but they also help them avoid queues. They can simply turn up with a pre-supplied 6-digit code and download their visitor badge on the spot.

2.  Lead capture app

Remember the days of old, when all the data you scanned from individuals’ badges was only viewed back in the office? Even then, only once you’d had a team debrief and sorted out the pre-event chaos left at the office were you able to review the data.

By this point, any data you gleaned had become a line entry in a CSV file somewhere. Well, now you can collect key event data and see who’s been to your stand in real time – even before they’ve left.

Why is this important? Because you can follow up with a lead immediately and strike while the iron’s hot. Our app, Fusion Exhibit, allows you to do just that. Additionally, event organisers no longer need to wait until the end of the day to see how busy they’ve been. Our app lets them quickly establish footfall figures and determine whether they’ve met attendance targets.

3.  Visitor app

Going back a few years, the only pre-event engagement your attendees may have had with your event was printing their visitor badge before the event – and even then, it was probably placed in some drawer, only to be forgotten about and printed (again).

Thankfully, things have changed since then. Now, via our app, Fusion Visit, attendees can book meetings ahead of events and pre-book seminars they’re keen on attending. Apps like ours provide customer touchpoints and a way for you to increase engagement like never before.

4.  People

Yes, we know … people do not fall under technology. But great people keep technology running smoothly, so we're adding them to our top five for that reason alone.

Additionally, great people help you overcome the challenges of running events so you can focus on what really matters. We have an experienced team of event specialists who can help you manage every aspect of your events. Good people are essential, regardless of the technology you’re using.

Fusion enjoyed a packed day at the AEO Forums earlier this month. The theme for this years’ event was Collaborate to Innovate, and this message was captured throughout the day in the numerous panels, workshops and networking opportunities. The 2025 Forum was particularly special for Fusion, as we took on sponsorship of the event , as well as providing the registration services , including front-of-house staffing and self-service badging, facilitating a quick and easy entry for everyone in attendance. In keeping with the theme of the day, there were three busy streams across Marketing, Sales and Ops, all kicking off with social impact consultant from It Takes A Village Collective, Chloe Davies’, discussion on Breaking Barriers: The power of community-led innovation. She demonstrated how she’s embedded community values into every aspect of her career, sharing proven strategies on how to identify and break down misaligned goals and silos before they form.

Fusion's on-site team was also called upon to provide support during the two-day event, manage the registration desk, and ensure that each attendee's experience was optimised.
